Asami Sato was already exhausted from her night of smoozing to the big shots and potential investors. She had already had her ass groped and pinched several times throughout the night. When she felt herself being pulled into round of dancing, all she wanted to do was to break some toes and then retreat home for some well-deserved sleep.
Much to her surprise, however, as she caught a glimpse of her partner, she was greeted with the sight of a very familiar smirk.
“What are you doing here?”
“Aw, aren’t you happy to see me, doll?” Shady Shin said with a chuckle as they rotated slowly. “I even cleaned myself up just for you.”
“Cut it out, Shin. Why are you really here?”
“What if I told you I was here for you?”
“Then that’s a load of ostrich horse shit,” she said, her tone holding even more bite as she tried to ignore how nice it felt to be in his arms.
“Those are some strong words coming from you.” He didn’t even bother to hide his amusement at her harsh language. “Maybe you should try to relax, doll. Maybe smile a little? This is a party, right? Something tells me you haven’t been enjoying it.”
“No, I—” She found herself stumbling over her words for a moment because he was actually right. All night she had been all about business and being the perfect host and making sure everything went smoothly. There was so much stress she had been feeling lately over the issues with Future Industries, she hadn’t had any time for relaxing.
And now as she was led around the dance floor by a masked triad member, she could feel herself loosen up a little for the first time that night. It was certainly wrong to, but she couldn’t stop the small smile that stretched across her face. “Yeah… but that seems to have changed now,” she finished and was rewarded with a grin from her dance partner. Albeit a very smug grin, to which she rolled her eyes at, but her smile dampened the effect.
“Somebody’s stolen my necklace!”
“My watch is missing!”
Or maybe not, she thought with a small chuckle escaped her lips. Asami knew that of all the times for a fit of laughter that now was the most inopportune time, but at the moment she just couldn’t stop herself. Shin’s laid-back posture was as stiff as could be, his eyes suddenly wide as saucers, and his mouth a thin line. It truly was a sight to behold and it made her have to double the effort to stifle her laughs.
“Y’know how I’d hate to cut this dance short, doll, but—”
She held up her fingers to his lips, her eyes still shining with amusement. “I understand. Just go already,” she said making a small shooing motion with her other hand.
Shin’s smile returned at her directness and he kissed her fingers softly before pulling himself away from her hold.
“Until next time, doll.”
And with that he left Asami on the side of the crowded dance floor where she just stood there, shaking her head with that small smile of hers.
I remembered that I owed a certain someone some Shinsami ♥
